Monday's Revenge

By mel - Posted on 09 September 2011

Monday was a holiday this week. Many of us were able to stay home from work, school, or avoid other obligations due to this special holiday Monday. For reasons that are yet unclear, Monday got mad this week. Perhaps it was lonely. Whatever the reason, Monday has been pouting and stomping its feet over my whole week and for that matter, my children have been knocked around a bit as well.

Teeth TortureTeeth TortureTuesday, I had a dental appointment. Just a cleaning and, yay no cavities, but torture all the same. The appointment was in downtown. Through neglect, my garmin no longer works so I’ve had to depend on google maps on my android. Forget it, that thing gets me lost every time!!!! Perhaps I should say that my inability to follow it gets me lost every time. Details, details.

Also on Tuesday, I stopped at Kroger for half and half and picked up some other stuff while I was there. I was annoyed by the $2.39 price of the creamer because I knew it was only $1.99 at Sam’s but I didn’t want to drive to Sam’s. I used the U-Scan. When I got home, I realized I had left the overpriced creamer in a bag at the carousel. Nice. Half and HalfHalf and Half

Wednesday, the kids had a dental appointment. I took them to school at 11 and they had already missed lunch so I stayed with them while they ate a cold plate lunch of corn dogs and syrupy pears. On my way home I stopped at the Exxon Tigermarket for half and half. A pint size (half of the one I left at Kroger) was $2.49. Really? I left and went down the road to Walgreens. They only had flavored creamers. YUCK!!! So, I did what I should have done in the beginning and went back to Kroger. Bought a second container of creamer and headed home only to discover that I had enough coffee for just one more cup!!!

Also on Wednesday, when I picked up the kiddos from childcare they both had an accident report. Maddie had been pushed (by Jensen) in the fellowship hall and had a giant rug burn beside her left eye. Jensen had been hit in the face with a hula-hoop and had a raccoon’s mask across his face.

Monday was not done with me yet. Thursday, I had $10 cash in my pocket to pick up some coffee on the way home. I didn’t bring my purse with me because I knew I was coming straight home after. When I got to the childcare center I realized that I had lost it somewhere. No coffee. I found the folded up $5 bills in our driveway when I got home.

Later that day, when I picked up the kiddos from childcare I was met at the door by one of the teachers informing me that I need to pack Maddie in bubble wrap before sending her to school. I heard about a crash into a flowerpot and being kicked in the face. I walk down the hall to grab their jackets and was stopped by another teacher to tell me about Maddie’s day. Braced for the worst I entered the fellowship hall and both monkeys started running toward me. Expecting Maddie to have gashes all over her face I was pleasantly surprised to find her intact with 2 bruises on her nose and 1 beside her mouth. That’s our little bruiser!

BehemothBehemothFriday has arrived. Everyone is excited for the weekend. Monday however is still poking me in the ribs. “Hey, did you enjoy that holiday?” So, I’m driving down 40W going 70mph per the limit. Not going over. Not me. When this big behemoth of a travel trailer decides he wants my lane. Problem being my Volvo is beside of the last 1/3 of his monstrous vehicle. I slam on my brakes and start blaring my horn. Nothing. He comes to the right anyway and luckily my brakes are one of the few things on my car that still work. Thinking I want to get around this guy I move into the left lane and proceed to pass him. I should have given him more room than that. I should have moved over 2 lanes before trying to pass him. He DID IT AGAIN! He swerved over to the left again making my lane his own and ignoring my blasting horn. I went into the far far left lane and took off!

So There MondaySo There MondaySo, that’s my week, all 5 Monday’s of it. Basically just a lot of annoying stuff. But being the silver lining kind of gal that I am I can reframe this. Monday tried to kick my butt all week long but in the end I learned that I AM INVICIBLE!!!!
