Louie Needs a Home
The story as written by the woman who has been responsible for nursing Louie back to health. Pictures are at flicker here: http://www.flickr.com/pho...
One day, a poor little pup got lost somehow. He stumbled around with a gaping wound on his back leg, looking for someone to take care of him. He was hungry, wet from the rain, and his leg hurt. At last, he found a lady who talked to him, picked him up, and took him home. She fed him till his belly was full and gave him a warm place to sleep.
The next morning, he found himself at the vet’s office where more nice people were taking care of him. He went to sleep, and when he woke up the terrible hurt was gone, and so was his leg! Soon, he felt much better. So he went back home with the lady and began to get strong. She fed him and brushed him and named him Louie. She gave him little doggie massages to help him feel better about missing his leg. Little Louie learned to walk with only 3 legs. At first, he would fall down. Then he learned to drag himself on the floor, using his front legs. He could go pretty fast, especially at dinner time! Louie learned how to do new things every day, like crawling up the stairs, running faster, digging holes, chasing cats, climbing down in the creek, and walking in the woods. He got so used to getting around on 3 legs, he figured he was just as good as any other dog, maybe even better!
Louie hoped he could live with the lady forever. But, she knew she could not keep him. He had really big feet, which meant only one thing – he was going to be a really big dog! And she lived in a very tiny house and went to work all day, leaving Little Louie all alone on the couch. And he didn’t even like to watch tv. So, he would eat dog bones and other chewy things he found around the house all day long. Whenever the lady came home, he was very happy because he got to play ball, go for walks, play in the creek, and sit in her lap.
The lady tried to find a good home for Louie, one with people who would love him and play with him, and keep him safe inside with them. But she did not have much luck. Meanwhile, Little Louie kept eating and getting stronger. He was growing into those 3 big feet! And today, Little Louie is Big Louie. He is almost one year old and weighs 96 pounds. The vet told him he is probably a Rottweiler, and they get pretty big. Well, the lady said, you may be big and you may be a Rottweiler, but you are still a very lovable puppy dog. And this made Louie very happy.
Lovable Louie is still hoping just the right person will come along and let him be in a family. He hopes it will be a person that will bring him to dog school (he is very smart), let him sleep in the house, let him play in a fenced yard, and take him on walks. He would like to play with kids too, since they are so much fun, but knows he is way too big for little kids! He promises to be very loyal and obedient, keep learning new things, and love his new family forever.
Well, Louie will just be waiting here for his new person…he hopes they show up soon!

Thank you to everyone that read Louie's story and passed the story around to your friends and contacts. Louie will be moving to Pennsylvania!!! I hope he likes snow! There is a group called Rom-Ger-Am group located in PA that will be placing Louie in a new home. Thanks too to Cindy (the current owner) who nursed Louie back to health and cared enough to make sure he got a good home.
Would you please email me about this dog? I work with Rom-Ger-Am Rottweilers in Latrobe PA. Our director would like to read his story and see if she can find him a place.
